Prabowo: Indonesia’s Path to Net-Zero Emissions

President Prabowo Subianto is confident in Indonesia’s capability to achieve net-zero carbon emissions as scheduled, positioning the country as a pioneer in reaching this environmental milestone. During a virtual conference focusing on renewable energy development and expanding oil production in East Java, Prabowo emphasized Indonesia’s efficient energy generation and the reduction of costly logistics chains as key factors.

Highlighting the significance of energy independence in Indonesia’s vision for national sovereignty, the government is set to launch 55 new renewable energy projects, including geothermal power plants, to deliver clean, reliable, and efficient energy throughout the archipelago. Prabowo praised the collaborative efforts of ministries, regulatory bodies, and energy companies such as Medco Energi and ExxonMobil in supporting Indonesia’s energy transition.

While acknowledging the country’s substantial oil and gas reserves, Prabowo underscored the importance of renewable energy, particularly solar power, in ensuring energy self-sufficiency for communities nationwide. He remains optimistic about Indonesia’s future, viewing solar energy as a promising solution for villages, districts, regencies, and remote islands. Through the adoption of renewable energy sources, Indonesia can lead the way towards a brighter and more sustainable future.
