President of the Republic of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, had a meeting with His Majesty King Philippe Leopold Louis Marie of Belgium at the Royal Palace of Laeken in Brussels on Sunday. The warm reception of President Prabowo by King Philippe upon his arrival set the tone for their official visit. The two leaders then proceeded into the palace for an official photo session in the main hall before engaging in a private one-on-one meeting. Accompanying President Prabowo were Cabinet Secretary Teddy Indra Wijaya and Ambassador Andri Hadi, demonstrating the significance of the meeting.
The meeting marked the culmination of President Prabowo’s high-level engagements during his state visit to Belgium. After the meeting, King Philippe personally bid farewell to President Prabowo as he departed for Brussels Airport, continuing his journey to Paris, France to partake in the Bastille Day celebrations as a guest of honor. Earlier in Brussels, President Prabowo also held strategic diplomatic meetings with President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen and President of the European Council António Costa.
These diplomatic efforts highlighted Indonesia’s commitment to finalizing the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the European Union, aiming to enhance economic cooperation between the two regions. This visit solidified Indonesia’s position in the international arena and underlined the country’s dedication to fostering strong diplomatic ties with key partners.
