President Prabowo Subianto recently visited former President Joko Widodo at his residence in Solo to provide updates on his state visits to Saudi Arabia, Brazil, Belgium, and France. During the meeting, Prabowo discussed the breakthroughs achieved during his diplomatic tour, particularly highlighting the successful negotiations on the Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA) with the European Union after a decade of talks.
Accompanied by Vice President Gibran Rakabuming Raka, Prabowo arrived at Jokowi’s residence, where they were warmly welcomed by Jokowi and First Lady Iriana. The meeting was described as cordial and relaxed, focusing on various current issues and key outcomes from Prabowo’s 15-day diplomatic tour.
Prabowo expressed gratitude for the positive results obtained during his international engagements, mentioning his visit to Belarus and the potential for trade cooperation in commodities such as rubber. Emphasizing Indonesia’s strong international reputation and commitment to neutrality, Prabowo highlighted the country’s long-standing practice of peaceful cooperation with global partners.
Indonesia’s non-aligned status and dedication to fostering friendships with all nations were underscored during the discussion. Prabowo highlighted Indonesia’s membership in BRICS for economic purposes and its application to join the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as indicators of the country’s acceptance and respect on the global stage.
Among the participants in the meeting with Jokowi were State Secretary Minister Prasetyo Hadi, Foreign Minister Sugiono, and Deputy Minister of Communication and Digital Affairs Angga Raka Prabowo. The engagement provided a platform for exchanging perspectives on international relations and reinforcing Indonesia’s stance as a neutral and welcoming nation on the world stage.
