Indonesia’s National Children’s Day serves as a significant annual event that President Prabowo Subianto aims to leverage to ensure the welfare of the nation’s children. The government has introduced three main programs aimed at improving the well-being of children: Nutritious Free Meals (MBG), Free Health Checkups (CKG), and School Revitalization. Known as Uki, Dedek Prayudi from the Presidential Communications Office highlighted that the MBG program focuses on providing not just meals, but essential nutrients like iron to help children thrive. The initiative addresses the issue of children attending school without breakfast, leading to various health and developmental problems like anemia.
In addition to the MBG program, the government is implementing Free Health Checkups for students to detect any health issues early on, fulfilling the constitutional right to health for all citizens, including children. The School Revitalization Program aims to renovate over 11,000 schools across Indonesia, with a focus on those in remote or underdeveloped areas lacking basic facilities. President Prabowo has allocated significant funds to address the alarming number of structurally damaged schools nationwide.
The initiative also emphasizes the importance of providing a safe and sanitary environment in schools, especially for girls who may face challenges due to inadequate facilities. By addressing these issues, the government aims to create a conducive learning environment that enhances the well-being and educational experience of all Indonesian children.
