The National Nutrition Agency (BGN) is set to hire workers from among individuals living in extreme and general poverty (deciles 1 and 2) for the Nutritional Fulfillment Service Units (SPPG) in an effort to boost local employment. Redy Hendra Gunawan, Special Staff to the National Nutrition Agency, revealed that at least 30% of the personnel in each SPPG will come from underprivileged households, following the President’s directive to ensure the Free Nutritious Meals (MBG) Program contributes to job creation. Currently, 2,378 SPPG units have been established in collaboration with 6,076 local economic institutions, including cooperatives, village-owned enterprises (BUMDes/BUMDesma), and micro, small, and medium enterprises (MSMEs). The program has engaged 93,572 local community members as volunteers, benefiting 7,444,238 individuals nationwide. Additionally, an additional 2,401 SPPG units will be launched within the next 10 days, totaling to 4,788 operational units and serving around 15 million beneficiaries across the country as announced by Redy.
