Deputy Minister for Population and Family Development (Wamendukbangga) Ratu Ayu Isyana Bagoes Oka emphasized the importance of parents staying updated on their children’s interests and engaging in physical activities together to prevent addiction to games and gadgets. This message was delivered during a discussion organized by the Presidential Communication Office (PCO) in collaboration with Gempita, where Isyana highlighted the need for parents to continuously learn and adapt to the online world as children often outpace their knowledge. She pointed out that children tend to seek instant gratification through social media and online games, leading to addictive behaviors. To combat this, Isyana proposed engaging in sports and outdoor activities, as they provide a healthier source of dopamine. In line with this, Deputy Minister for Women’s Empowerment and Child Protection, Veronica Tan, shared the Ruang Bersama Indonesia (RBI) program, which aims to provide safe and inclusive spaces for children to engage in traditional games, sports, and creative activities, steering them away from gadget dependence. Through these initiatives, parents are encouraged to promote physical activities and outdoor play to ensure the well-being of their children and maintain a balanced lifestyle.
