The arrival of Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto in Singapore for the National Day celebrations on August 9 had a profound impact on Indonesian students studying in the Lion City. Belinda, Donata, Daniel, and Ardi, students from the Singapore Institute of Management, had the opportunity to directly interact with the President. They felt a strong connection to their homeland and a sense of being back home in Indonesia while meeting President Prabowo in Singapore. The encounter was more than just a casual meeting; it was a reminder of their national identity and brought a feeling of home to foreign soil.
Belinda expressed her gratitude for the chance to meet and shake hands with President Prabowo and members of the Kabinet Merah Putih who were present, calling it a memorable experience that made her feel closer to home. Donata shared her happiness at meeting President Prabowo again, closer this time than before. Another student mentioned it was a rare opportunity to meet a President in person for the first time in their life. The students appreciated the opportunity to engage with their country’s leader while in a foreign land and highlighted the significance of the experience.
