President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, took a moment to reflect on a significant event from the past when he was awarded the Grand Cross of the Order of the Sun of Peru by Peruvian President Dina Boluarte on November 14, 2024. This highest honor from the Peruvian government was a tribute to Indonesia as a whole, highlighting the strong diplomatic ties between the two nations since 1975. During an official visit at Merdeka Palace in Central Jakarta, Prabowo shared this memory with the public.
In return for this prestigious recognition, Prabowo bestowed upon Boluarte Indonesia’s highest award, the Bintang Republik Indonesia Adipurna, in acknowledgment of her substantial contributions to enhancing bilateral relations and cooperation. This reciprocal gesture symbolizes the deepening friendship between Indonesia and Peru, with hopes for continued growth in this partnership.
Furthermore, both governments solidified their commitment to collaboration by signing agreements in various areas such as narcotics eradication, combating illicit trade, food security, mining, energy transition, fisheries, and defense. As the two nations work together to address common challenges and pursue shared goals, the future holds promising opportunities for further cooperation and mutual benefit.
