President of Indonesia, Prabowo Subianto, emphasized the government’s commitment to prioritize the nation’s education system in his address during the State Budget 2026 Financial Note at the House of Representatives’ plenary session. The budget proposal includes a record allocation of Rp 757.8 trillion for education, representing the largest investment in this sector in Indonesia’s history. Prabowo highlighted the significance of quality education as a tool for creating globally competitive human resources and eradicating poverty. He aims to utilize the education budget efficiently by enhancing teacher welfare, improving vocational training, and aligning curricula with industry demands. The allocation breakdown includes funding for programs like Indonesia Pintar and scholarships for university students, along with investments in school and campus facilities. Prabowo also plans to strengthen People’s Schools and Garuda Excellence Schools to provide quality education for disadvantaged children and expand opportunities for scholarships through the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education. Furthermore, the President emphasized the importance of focusing on science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) to enhance Indonesia’s competitiveness on the global stage.
