BYD Motor Indonesia successfully dominated the Battery Electric Vehicle (BEV) segment in Indonesia in 2024, with a market share of 36% and sales of 15,433 units. Despite challenges in the overall automotive market in the country, the pure electric vehicle segment showed significant growth, increasing its market share from 1.7% in 2023 to 5% in 2024. This growth was attributed to strong government support and contributions from various stakeholders in advancing the electric vehicle industry in Indonesia.

The success of BYD was not limited to Indonesia, as the global market also saw remarkable achievements. BYD reported selling over 4.27 million New Energy Vehicles (NEV) in 2024, marking a 41% growth compared to the previous year. Additionally, the company exported 420,000 NEVs to various countries worldwide, reinforcing its commitment to supporting sustainable mobility globally.

Furthermore, BYD celebrated a milestone in November 2024 by reaching a production of 10 million NEVs, setting a world record as the first car manufacturer to achieve such a high production volume. This rapid growth demonstrated BYD’s dedication to innovation and meeting the global demand for sustainable mobility solutions.

With a focus on environmental sustainability, BYD’s contribution to reducing global carbon emissions was highlighted, amounting to over 74 billion kilograms of CO2, equivalent to planting more than 1.2 billion trees. The widespread adoption of BYD’s NEVs in over 400 cities across 99 countries and 6 continents reflected the company’s commitment to advancing sustainable mobility solutions worldwide.

To support the development of the electric vehicle industry in Indonesia, BYD announced plans to establish a production facility in Subang, West Java, with an annual production capacity of up to 150,000 units. This facility aims to meet market demand and contribute significantly to the development of an eco-friendly industrial ecosystem. The establishment of the plant is expected to create over 18,000 new job opportunities across various sectors, providing local workforce with more avenues for growth.

BYD’s investment in Indonesia also includes enhancing its dealer network, with the goal of expanding from 35 to 80 dealer locations by the end of 2025. This initiative aims to improve access for Indonesian consumers to experience electric vehicles firsthand and promote the benefits of BYD’s innovative electric cars.

The pricing details of BYD’s electric vehicle models in Indonesia in 2025 were also revealed, including the Dolphin, Atto 3, Seal, and M6 variants. These models cater to different segments such as MPV 7-seater, Hatchback, SUV, and Sedan, offering a wide range of options for consumers seeking eco-friendly mobility solutions. Additionally, BYD’s commitment to nurturing local talent and transferring knowledge through its investments in Indonesia is expected to enhance technical skills and competitiveness in the automotive and renewable energy sectors. This strategic approach not only contributes to economic growth but also supports the development of a skilled local workforce capable of meeting industry demands.
